Our promises

The things trekkers most often say went wrong with an agency, and what we commit to instead.

Payments and refunds

You get every price, deposit and refund rule in writing before you pay anything.

    Your named guide

We tell you your guide's name before you travel. If we have to change them, we tell you why, before you start walking.

      No surprise group merging

A private trek is private. We never add you to another group without asking you first.

        No hidden costs

Every quote lists what is included and what is not, and each trek page shows what you'll typically spend yourself on the trail.

        Lukla flight delays

Mountain flights are often delayed by weather. We tell you up front how many spare days to allow and who pays for what.

          Altitude and evacuation

If someone shows signs of altitude sickness, the first step is to stop climbing or walk down. A helicopter is called only when it's medically needed, and we take no commission from hospitals or helicopter companies.

          • You need travel insurance that covers trekking to at least 6,000 m and helicopter evacuation. Check the altitude limit in the policy wording.

          Fair treatment of porters

Porters carry a fair load, have proper gear and insurance, and are paid on time.

            Before you book

            Are you licensed?

Treks are planned by Surendra, a licensed trekking guide. We confirm the licensed operator for your trek, and every booking term, in writing before you pay anything.

            Do I need a guide?

Since 1 April 2023, a licensed guide is required in national parks and conservation areas, including Annapurna and Langtang. The Everest region's municipality has not applied the rule (still exempt as of February 2025). See our guide rules explainer in the Journal.

Can I join a group if I'm travelling solo?

Ask us and we'll confirm the details for your trek.

            How much should I tip?

Ask us and we'll confirm the details for your trek.

Can I rent gear in Kathmandu or Pokhara?

Yes. Down jackets, sleeping bags and trekking poles are easy to rent or buy in Thamel (Kathmandu) and Lakeside (Pokhara). We'll tell you what's worth renting for your trek and season.

Do you pick me up from the airport?

Ask us and we'll confirm the details for your trek.
